Example of headshots done WRONG
Here's our example for today: note that this guy tends to have reddish skin and a substantially thick neck. The "before" photo on the left is a bad pose and even worse lighting. This leaves him with seriously heavy shadows on his face - making him feel less genuine and more impersonal. For some crazy reason this FAKE professional photographer allowed my client to have a photo for years with lobster red skin - why? This is not serving you as a businessperson. You deserve much better.
Example of headshots done RIGHT
On the right, his new headshot I took, is taken several years later (since covid) and he is heavier as a person. So even with posing him carefully to slenderize his neck, it is not "modelicious" and super slender, even though it is significantly reduced. Moreover, his shirt has patterns in it, so I cannot paint out the shirt wrinkles. I'm giving you are more realistic and average headshot rescue - not throwing in some supermodel. So the end result is less than ideal if you want the "perfect" headshot.
Nevertheless, this is a great example because it is a realistic headshot and can serve as a guide to what Dallas area business people can expect when I take their business headshot or corporate portrait.
The most important improvement is the focus on his face - the entire point of your business headshot. Let's show your face in professional lighting, with a healthy skin tone and not shiny skin.
It is both shocking and disappointing to me to see so many corporate executives, sales people, real estate agents, bankers, attorneys, etc. who paid some inexperienced FAKE professional photographer good money to take a proper business headshot... only to have bad skin tone, annoying shadows on their face. The left is a fail because it puts so much of his face in creepy shadows. It does not show the person in their best light or make you want to do BUSINESS with them - hello!
